Good afternoon everyone. My name is Julia. And I'm from Ukraine.
I have always loved hand-related work. As far as I can remember, I liked to spend time on painstaking things. According to legend, I made my first small sculpture when I was 7 years old. Which was successfully sold at a local fair. As a child, my mother constantly sewed toys for me, which were my favorites. My environment has always been filled with objects made by hands with a piece of soul.
I have an art education, but in this area I am self-taught. I started to study dolls on my own. I found information on sculpture on the Internet, tried different materials and techniques, came up with my own.
Anything inspires me to create an image: a gust of wind, a piece of fabric seen in an antique market, sexy lines of cars on the street or a strange make-up of a model in a magazine. One way or another, all these things penetrate the ideas of the images of my dolls.

I am a tactile person and textures in my work are very important to me. I often add wood to my compositions, which gives them warmth.
It can be a podium or a completely inconspicuous detail, or vice versa, the central part of the composition.

Now I have an amazing chance to live in Japan. This is a beautiful and interesting country. And in this country, craft is very developed in various fields. I managed to find a workshop for making traditional Japanese dolls using the “Kimekomi” technique.
Kimekomi Ningyo - wooden dolls covered with cloth (translated from Japanese kime - wooden edge, komi - to fill, ningyo - doll). The history of the manufacture of which goes back to the beginning of the 18th century.
Although this was not my main task, it became interesting for me to create art objects based on the craft.
As part of the studio, I made a copy of the master's doll and at the same time worked on my projects in which I applied this technique.

  1. Julia, glad to meet you! A couple of years ago, with a friend at an exhibition in Kiev, we were impressed by a girl princess, touching and quiet. Now I am in dolls. Your new work and technique is just a delight! Thank you for the aesthetic pleasure
